Do you have a smile you would like to spruce up a bit? Do you have teeth that are chipped, broken, fragile, misshapen or discolored? Do you have gaps between your teeth that you would like to disappear?
If so, dental veneers may be the answer for you.
What is a tooth veneer or dental veneers?
A tooth veneer or dental veneers are a thin shell that is bonded to the front and sometimes the sides of your tooth or teeth. This shell is color matched to your natural teeth so it doesn’t look fake or like it stands out. However, if you choose to get dental veneers on all your teeth that show in your smile, you can get them all a few shades lighter if you wish.
We offer two varieties of dental veneers:
- Traditional dental veneers — These dental veneers are very durable and permanent. To prepare to place a tooth veneer, the dentist prepares the original tooth by scratching off some of the enamel and then bonding the tooth veneer to the original tooth.
- Prepless dental veneers — Some people would prefer to have a less invasive process when getting a tooth veneer. Prepless dental veneers do not require any preparation (which is why they are called prepless.) The dentist simply bonds the tooth veneer to your original tooth. If you ever want to remove the prepless dental veneers, your original tooth is intact.
There are plusses to both systems and our dentist is happy to discuss which dental veneers system will work better for you.
With both traditional and prepless dental veneers, you will see a remarkable difference in your smile. It usually takes two dental visits when you are getting a tooth veneer. One to make the mold and measurements to order the tooth veneer, and one to place the dental veneers on your teeth. But imagine — in a short time, you can have gleaming, uniform, healthy looking teeth. They look, feel, and function like your original teeth. But brighten your smile dramatically!
